Interview - Michael Butler The Rock and Roll Geek

Podcast Solutions Interview #1: In this first interview for Podcast Solutions I talk with Michael Butler from the Rock and Roll Geek Show. Even though we call it an interview, you’ll see pretty quickly that it is just a fun conversation between two people who have been having a blast with podcasting. I hope you enjoy.

Michael Butler is my podcasting hero :) The Rock and Roll Geek Show is the first show i fell in love with in the ‘early days’ of podcasting and i still eagerly look forward to each new show. Michael’s magic lies in his enthusiasm for rock music and his honest, down-to-earth style. Michael is not afraid to try new approachs to podcasting… his creative thinking adds spice to his show. Michael gets a lot of good info and tidbits of knowledge out to his listeners while being entertaining. i cannot wait to hear his ‘behind the scenes of a record deal’ shows!
many be wierd, but i feel like i kinda know Michael Butler as a friend, now…. next time he makes a trip home to Florida, he’s invited to my house for supper…. and, a couple of Heinekens :)

this is a wonderful interview, guys! thanks

Great interview. Neither of you Michael’s need worry or care about Podcast Alley rankings. Both RnRGS and RRR kick ass precisely because of your passion for rock (Michael B.) and movies (Michael G.). Listeners who care will find you and tell their friends.

    Looking forward to the book!

In the next 12 months the Podcasting audience will increase and so will the egos.
That is the nature of the beast. That is entertainment. But there will be two Podcasts that will still be head and shoulders above the rest. That is The Rock and Roll Geek Show and Reel Reviews.

Michael Butler has built a Show from the ground up and introduced his band American Heartbreak to a whole new audience. One of Michaels strengths is he listens to his listeners. If you have an idea for a show or even a criticism he takes it on board. You can have 50,000 listeners, but what does that really mean. It is your core audience that refuses to miss a show that counts in my book. I see more value in 1000 hardcore listeners that will stand as one and follow your journey than 50,000 transient listeners. The RNR Geek Show has grown so much since its beginning, due to the time and effort that Michael puts into the Show. Well done Michael B.

I am huge fan of Reel Reviews and RNR Geek Show. Reel Reviews appears to be a simple format on paper. In essence it is a tightrope act. Michael G biggest strength is his passion for movies and it shows. He is just one man and a microphone with a lot of knowledge thrown in. His ability to create images with his words and set the scene of a particular movie he has reviewed is an art in its self. Well done Michael G.
I must end now with a Podsafe Lyric. For Those About To Rock We Salute You.

Fantastic interview! Felt like I was walking through “podcasting memory lane” right along with the both of you.

Passion and content are key and both of you have it!

Keep up the great work and I look forward to more interviews and the book.

I love the RNR Geek Show. Michael is informative and very entertaining in his inimitable delivery and structure. It’s like sitting in my living room and listening to my friends discuss the merits of rock music. It’s definitely one of my top podcasts. There is a new podcast that I listen to as well. It’s called SICK AND WRONG: THE PODCAST. The hosts are witt, charming, and rather insane. Check it out:
